“Masterpiece Mystery!” (9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, WVIZ Channel 25 and WEAO Channel 49): “Firth of Forth,” the second of three “Case Histories” mysteries starring Jason Isaacs (Lucius Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” films) as private investigator Jackson Brodie, follows the folk-music-loving sleuth as he searches for the identity of a drowning victim.
“The Walking Dead” (9 p.m. Sunday, AMC): Carl (Chandler Riggs) clings to life as Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Shane (Jon Bernthal) get to know a new group of survivors in the second episode of the cable drama’s second season.
“Boardwalk Empire” (9 p.m. Sunday, HBO): As Nucky (Steve Buscemi) slyly maneuvers himself back to power, Eli (Shea Whigham) begins to question his allegiances and Jimmy (Michael Pitt) is taught a painful lesson.
“Dexter” (9 p.m. Sunday, Showtime): Grappling with issues of faith, Dexter (Michael C. Hall) is leaning on Brother Sam (Mos Def) for support when a new twisted tableau is found.
“The Real Rocky” (8 p.m. Tuesday, ESPN): This documentary profiles boxer Chuck Wepner, who proved remarkably durable in a losing effort against heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali. The 1975 fight at the Richfield Coliseum inspired Sylvester Stallone to write “Rocky.”
“Whitechapel” (10 p.m. Wednesday, BBC America): Rupert Penry-Jones, Phil Davis and Steve Pemberton star in this British series about London detectives working on a case that echoes the Jack the Ripper murders.
“Community” (8 p.m. Thursday, WKYC Channel 3): The study group shares horror stories in this year’s Halloween episode.
