Finland’s Hooded Menace Sign to Relapse Records

Relapse Records has just announced the signing of Finnish death-doom bringers Hooded Menace.

Influenced by the likes of Candlemass, Paradise Lost and Black Sabbath, the group has already released two full-length albums as well as split releases with Coffins, Asphyx, Ilsa, and more. Hooded Menace made their US live debut this spring performing as part of the Maryland Deathfest, Chaos in Tejas, and Doom in June festivals.

Arrest made in shooting death

ONLY IN THE WORLD-HERALDOmaha police have arrested one man and were searching for three others in connection with the shooting death of Blaise D. Benscoter.

Homicide detectives arrested Donald G. Bridgeford, 38, of Omaha on Friday night. Bridgeford was booked on suspicion of second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony. He was being held at the Douglas County Correctional Center. Police said Saturday that arrest warrants had been issued for three other Omaha men: Omar Martinez, 37, Donald Krisor, 48, and Sean Collins, 20.All three were charged in the warrants with second-degree murder and use of a weapon to commit a felony.Benscoter, 31, was shot just after 1 a.m.

Looking back at more than a decade of Warped Tour

Now in its 17th year, the Vans Warped Tour continues to present a melting pot of punk and more that remains a magnet for new (and some old) bands and the mostly young fans attracted to them.

Having long been a summer home for the likes of NOFX, Rancid, the Vandals, Bad Religion and Pennywise, the afternoon bash returns Friday to the Fairplex in Pomona with another packed lineup, this one capped by Paramore, Pepper, Less Than Jake, Gym Class Heroes and Jacks Mannequin. Also in the mix are three bands fond of exclamation points 3OH!3, Against Me! and Attack Attack!

Lady Gaga Falls On Stage In Atlanta

This is the second time in the month of April alone that Lady Gaga hit the ground and the first one had her almost bust her head open on the keys of a piano.

Now that Disneys finally released a genuine trailer for The Muppetsafter a string of teaser parodies, theres a need for all-new ways to keep the anticipation going until its Thanksgiving debut. For example: the recently announced The Green Album, a collection of classic songs from The Muppet Showand previous Muppet movies recorded by various contemporary artists. Pitchfork revealed the full lineup today, which includes contributions from musicians like Andrew Bird, My Morning Jacket, and Sondre Lerche, and songs like OK Go’s rendition of the “Muppet Show Theme,” The Fray performing “Mahna Mahna,” and the obligatory-because-of-the-album-title appearance of Weezer, who duets on “Rainbow Connection” with Paramore’sHayley Williams.
